OB/GYN Leadership

Conceptus is the pioneer and market leader in the hysteroscopic sterilization method of permanent birth control. The Company has strong ties to the obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) physician community and is an active supporter of the following organizations:

  • The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)

    • ACOG is the nation's leading group of physicians providing health care for women. As a private, voluntary, nonprofit membership organization of approximately 55,000 members, AGOG strongly advocates for quality health care for women, maintains the highest standards of clinical practice and continuing education of its members, promotes patient education, and increases awareness among its members and the public of the changing issues facing women's health care.

    • Conceptus is a platinum contributor of ACOG and participated in ACOG’s 59th Annual Clinical Meeting in May 2011

  • American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL)

    • AAGL is the first and largest organization in the world dedicated to gynecologic endoscopic surgery. Founded in 1971, AAGL works to advance the safest and most efficacious diagnostic and therapeutic techniques that afford less invasive treatments for gynecologic conditions through the integration of clinical practice, research, innovation, and dialogue. For the past 36 years, the organization has educated the world's finest surgeons while improving the lives of women everywhere. This global commitment to women's health care is embodied in their continuing medical education of physicians and professionals to further promote the well-documented high standards of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

    • Conceptus is a gold contributor of AAGL and will participate in AAGL’s 40th Global Congress of Minimally Invasive Gynecology in November 2011

  • European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE)

    • ESGE represents national societies of endoscopy in Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa.  The society’s goals are to promote good endoscopic practice in its geographical region, to promote international cooperation between endoscopists, to publish guidelines, and to encourage international endoscopic research.

    • Conceptus participated in the 20th Annual ESGE Congress in September 2011

Conceptus fosters communication with general practitioners and family physicians (GPs/FPs), since GPs/FPs may refer their patients to OB/GYN physicians to learn more about the Essure procedure. The Company supports GP/FP organizations, including:

  • American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)

    • AAFP is one of the largest national medical organizations, representing more than 100,300 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students nationwide. Founded in 1947, its mission has been to preserve and promote the science and art of Family Medicine and to ensure high-quality, cost-effective health care for patients of all ages.

    • Conceptus participated in AAFP Scientific Assembly in September 2011
